Batam, SEAJori – The Riau Islands Regional Police (Polda Kepri) detained 114 persons during an Intensified Routine Activity (KRYD) operation in one famous Batam drugs den, Kampung Madani, Sei Beduk District, early Sunday (6/9/2026). Subsequent urine tests revealed that 108 of those detained tested positive for narcotics.
Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Nona Pricillia Ohei, stated that the operation was launched around 4:00 a.m following public reports, regarding widespread drug abuse in the area. The group comprised 95 men and 19 women.
“We secured 114 individuals in Kampung Madani (who also know as Kampung Aceh) during the KRYD operation, which was carried out after receiving public reports regarding alleged drug abuse in the region,” Senior Commissioner Nona stated on Sunday night.
Nona explained, drug screening confirmed that 90 men and 18 women tested positive for illicit substances, while six others tested negative.
The 108 individuals who tested positive were immediately handed over to the Directorate of Drug Crimes (Ditresnarkoba) of Polda Kepri in Nongsa for further interrogation. Initial investigations suggest that all 108 individuals are drug users rather than distributors.
“The 108 individuals who tested positive are suspected to be drug users,” Nona added.
Based on this case, The Polda Kepri are coordinating with the Riau Islands Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP Kepri) to arrange rehabilitation programs for the 108 users, among whom are several housewives. Authorities confirmed that no minors were detained in the raid.
“For the next steps, we are coordinating with BNNP Riau Islands to process their rehabilitation,” Nona explained.
While no active narcotics were seized at the scene, officers confiscated equipment linked to drug abuse, including drug bongs and an airgun.
Investigators also have identified a key suspect associated with drug operations in the area. “ Further investigations remain ongoing to track down additional accomplices in that area,” Nona’s final added. (*)
