Batam, SEAJori – The 2026 National Conference (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) in Batam marked a historic milestone. Peradi General Chairman Otto Hasibuan announced the official legal recognition of the organization under the Ministry of Law Decree No. AHU 05.AR 01.43/2026, issued on September 9, 2026.
“Before anyone questions the status of our organization, I will answer it right in from of this podium that Peradi is officially registered with the Ministry of Law,” Hasibuan stated directly to approximately 850 lawyers representing 192 regional branches across Indonesia who attended the conference at Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay, Batam, on Friday (11/9/2026).
The announcement puts an end to 21 years of internal friction and leadership dualism, following the Supreme Court’s ruling that granted all judicial review (PK) petitions in favor of Hasibuan’s leadership.
He also emphasized that this legal clarity serves as a solid foundation for organizational unity and integrity moving forward.
Beyond the regulatory triumph, Hasibuan who also serves as the Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs highlighted the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the legal industry. He urged all lawyers to adopt modern tools while upholding traditional values.
“If utilized correctly, AI is tremendously beneficial to our practice. However, many tasks previously handled by lawyers are now automated. What AI can never replace is an advocate’s integrity, moral responsibility, and the ethical essence of officium nobile,” he told.
This annual conference was attended by Head of National Committee Firmanto Laksana Pangaribuan, Riau Islands Regional Secretary Misni who representing Governor Ansar Ahmad alongside representatives from the Riau Islands Regional Police and others.
